It seems like every podcast that I listened to in the last couple of weeks focused on the role that artificial intelligence (AI) is having and will have in our lives. These podcasts really gave me a lot to think about as it pertains to my job, the field of medicine in general, and even world peace.
That seemed like a lot, so I decided to give AI a try for every day tasks. Some of you may already be leveraging the benefits of this technology but I have only dabbled in it, asking chatGPT to make suggestions for trips or brain storm topics for a blog post.
Follow me over the next few months as I tackle typical busy and/or working parents’ activities with the help of the free version of chatGPT.
My first ask was to help me make a schedule for my 8 year-old daughter for the morning and evening. She has a hard time staying on track and loves a good check list.
My prompt was simple: Can you make a schedule for my 8-year-old daughter to stay organized in the morning while getting ready for school and for bedtime?
You may notice I didn’t give it specific times or tasks, so I adjusted the times below but here is the answer:
Morning Routine (School Days)
7:20 AM– Wake Up
7:25 AM – Bathroom Time
• Potty. Brush teeth. Wash face. Comb hair.
7: 35 AM – Get Dressed
• Put on school clothes (pre-selected the night before or by parent in the morning)
7: 40 AM – Breakfast (if all done, can watch TV or read for a few minutes)
7:55 AM – Pack up and go to school
• Grab backpack (homework, lunchbox/snacks, water bottle, packed the night before). Put on shoes and coat.
Bedtime Routine
7:30-7:45 – Shower time, put on PJs
7:45-7:55 – Piano practice (mom preps backpack and lunch during this time)
8-8:30 PM – Family TV time
8:30-9 PM – Potty and brush teeth. Choose clothes for the next day, and set them out. Read a book.
9 PM– Lights Out. Settle into bed and sleep. Parent snuggles for a few minutes.
I will print this as a list with a checkbox and use it for the next 2 weeks and will update everyone with my next blog post to see how it went. I did a bit of editing but it was nice to have the template. I like that at the end of the prompts chatGPT asked me if I wanted adjustments based on time or more flexibility for task. I had not been asked questions about prompts previously.
Wish me luck! I would love for my daughter to carry on her morning and bed time routines without me ‘hounding her’ as she loves to tell me!
